![]() (BTW, I went looking on eBay just now there are a lot of look-alikes there. Not sure why the one you bought isn't being recognized besides the others I mention (I have zero clue as to the manufacturers, they were bought off of eBay) I've used more with clients and I've not encountered one in the last half dozen years that didn't work with a Mac. ![]() They were each far less than half of the cost of the Apple SuperDrive. I also have several other USB-based externals one has Lightscribe capabilities, the other adds BluRay. It looks great, is sturdy, and gets the job done. I've had one for a few years, and it moves from one Mac to another routinely without a hiccup. It should work with the MacBook you note without a problem (the Apple external is a higher-power draw than most so it doesn't work with all Macs but will work with the one you note). I think it's worth it for the build quality sure.
